Selection Criteria

The following provides a guide for companies seeking investment as to the selection criteria used by the OneVentures Innovation Fund:

  • Private Australian technology companies, preferably located on the eastern seaboard of Australia to allow for maximum input by our team,
  • The technology should be capable of internationalisation in a rapidly growing market to leverage our offshore relationships and drive scale,
  • The technology should have a strong intellectual property position and competitive advantage, addressing a market need in the life sciences IT, Telecommunications, New Media or Cleantech sectors.
  • The technology should be "best in class" and deemed feasible of generating significant product/service sales over a five year period,
  • The company should have already contributed to a significant R&D expenditure either through seed capital or government grants,
  • Satisfactory technical performance or a working prototype,
  • Significant industry and operational expertise of the team and proposed recruits,
  • Turnover below $5 million,
  • A valuation of less than $10 million,
  • Entry P/E in the range 4-6 (if profitable),
  • Limited risk of either product or environment prosecutions or liabilities, and
  • Investee companies should be looking towards an exit within 3 to 5 years of initial investment.
