Background
AgaMatrix is at the forefront of the mobile health revolution. AgaMatrix develops and manufactures a line of diabetes products designed to improve the quality of diabetes care. The company’s products feature WaveSense, a new technology that personalizes each test to provide world class accuracy. It detects and corrects for many errors caused by differences in blood samples and environmental conditions. Additional AgaMatrix products include the WaveSense KeyNote™, Presto™, and WaveSense Jazz™ BGMs, and the WaveSense Diabetes Manager™ iPhone® App and the AgaMatrix Nugget BGM. Agamatrix has developed seven FDA-cleared products which are protected by a suite of more than 160 patents worldwide.
In March 2010 AgaMatrix and sanofi-aventis entered into an agreement to co-develop innovative solutions in diabetes management that incorporate AgaMatrix’s WaveSense™ technology. The BGStar and iBGStar range of BGM devices have been developed out of that alliance. The iBGStar was launched in Europe in 2010. In December 2011, the US FDA approved the iBGStar (www.iBGStar.us), the first approval by the FDA of a smartphone linked diagnostic device.
